Go on an Underwater Adventure: A Sudanese Sea Safari

7 DAYS/6 NIGHTS

Devote 7 incredible days to nature and tranquil relaxation on the beautiful waters of the Red Sea. Enjoy the pristine, turquoise sea and coral splendour in thousands of colors.

This week-long sea safari will allow you to venture into the lesser-known, yet most beautiful ocean world of the Sudanese sea. The unique coral islands host a myriad of marine life, from gorgeous anthias fish and butterfly fish, to stunning hammerhead sharks, manta rays, dolphins, and much, much more.

Day 1: Arrival at Port Sudan

Arrive at the new international airport of Port Sudan, where you will be met by the crew and transferred by car to the boat, opposite Coral Port Hotel. Spend the afternoon gearing up, getting to know the team, and enjoying drinks and a swim at the hotel.

Day 2: Ras Sanganeb and Ras Sha’ab Rumi

As you are sleeping, your boat will leave port. Enjoy an early bite before enjoying your first dive off Sanganeb, known for its richness of marine life and breathtaking underwater vistas. After this dive, your boat will head to Ras Sha’ab Rumi for the night.

Depending on the tide and weather, you’ll have the chance to dive both the north and south pinnacle, known for its abundance of marine life including hammerheads, bumphead parrots, surgeonfish, and more. Alternatively, you can spend your evening fishing, snorkeling, or simply relaxing.

Day 3: Ras Sha’ab Rumi and Blue Bell

Have an early start today enjoying the unique wonders of the underwater world by diving the southern pinnacle of Ras Sha’ab Rumi. For non-divers, there is excellent fishing to be had. After the dive, head to the ‘Blue Bell’, an old Italian Cargo boat that crashed into the reef in 1977 while carrying many Toyota vehicles.

The huge ship disappearing into the deep is a wonderful site, plus you can enjoy sitting in one of the vehicles. Tonight, the boat many anchor between Blue Bell and Gurna Reef, so you can enjoy an evening, snorkeling, or another dive.

Day 4: Quita El Banna and Merlo Reef

Today, you’ll have an early departure to Quita El Banna, enjoying breakfast on board while enjoying the sea views and looking out for dolphins. Once at Quita El Banna, the diving here is along a magnificent wall and you’ll have the chance to spot manta rays, barracuda, reef sharks, and surgeon fish. Fishing and snorkeling here is also excellent.

Weather dependent, the afternoon will take you north to Merlo Reef, another atoll with a spectacular wall dive. Or you can choose to fish or relax on the boat.

Day 5: Angarosh, Abington, and Mesharifa

Angarosh and Abington are both renowned atoll dive sites. At the former, you’ll witness an amazing array of black corals, tuna, trevally, and barracuda, while the latter hosts a lighthouse and is home to a huge variety of fish, ranging from Zebra Angelfish and Skip Jacks, to Dog Tooth Tuna and Surgeon Fish.

In the evening, you’ll visit Mesharifa, known for its manta ray frenzy in the hot season. It’s a wonderful island to explore due to the diversity of sea life, coral, and unusual bird life.

Day 6: Begin Your Journey Home

Enjoy breakfast on board the boat, with a possible dive/stop off at Qita El Banna and Ras Sha’ab Rumi. You can even enjoy some great fishing, snorkeling, or an opportunity to relax on-board and enjoy your last night on the beautiful Sundanese sea.

Day 7: Back on Land (Port Sudan)

Your anchor will be up early and you’ll disembark at Port Sudan at approximately 11 am. Enjoy a swim, lunch, and possible day room at the Coral Port Hotel before catching your flight home.
