Nestled between the iconic safari destinations of Kenya and Tanzania, Rwanda offers visitors some of the best primate tracking on the planet, set against the backdrop of endless green hills and soaring mountainsides.

This 3 day itinerary begins in Kigali, exploring its lush hillsides, winding boulevards, and bustling streets, before taking you into the bamboo covered slopes of the Virunga Mountains to witness the truly magnificent and gentle gorillas in their natural habitat.

Day 1: Kigali

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be met by a tour representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in what is arguably one of Africa’s most attractive, clean, and safest cities.

Day 2: Kigali - Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, spend half a day on a city tour, designed to give you an intimate view of Kigali in a fun and action-packed way. Learn more about Rwanda’s history at the Presidential Palace Museum, visit a bustling craft market, and step inside the truly heart-wrenching Genocide Memorial.

After lunch, depart for Ruhengeri, travelling through the land of a thousand green hills, arriving in the early evening at your lodge in Volcanoes National Park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park - Kigali

Today, you will travel through the thickets of bamboo in Volcanoes National Park, pull yourself up steep lava slopes, and pause at an opening, where sunlight streams through the canopy of rainforest green, to witness a family of Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas. For conservation purposes, you can spend up to one hour with them.

After the trek, rejoin your driver guide for a transfer to your lodge for lunch, after which you’ll depart the foothills of the volcanoes and drive past coffee, tea, and banana plantations on a scenic drive back to Kigali. That evening, depart from Kigali International Airport for your onward journey.
