Day 1: Nairobi - Mount Kenya National Park

An early morning departure takes you from bustling Nairobi into the serene setting of Mt. Kenya National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch.

Spend the afternoon overlooking the waterhole and saltlick, which presents a constant ballet of wildlife and sights of some of Kenya’s most cherished birds, including the Violet-backed Starling, Green Pigeon, and Meyer’s Parrot (Brown Parrot). Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mount Kenya National Park - Samburu Game Reserve

After an early breakfast, travel across the equator into Kenya’s arid and desert-like Northern Frontier District, arriving at your lodge in Samburu Game Reserve in time for lunch.

In the late afternoon, discover Samburu’s cast of fascinating birds including the Somali Ostrich, Vulturine Guineafowl, Hunter’s Sunbird and William’s Lark, as well as other fascinating creatures such as the reticulated Giraffe, striped Hyena and Grevy’s Zebra. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve

As the sun rises over a calm and quiet Samburu, set out into this bird lover’s paradise; a place of endless skies, dusty plains, and palm-fringed rivers for a sublime bird watching safari.

Home to over 365 bird species, Samburu offers an especially dramatic bird safari experience thanks to its high population of birds of prey including the Martial Eagle, Palm Nut Vulture, Rosy-patched Bush-Shrike, Donaldson’s Smith sparrow weaver and many more. After a full day in Kenya’s outback, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park

Early breakfast then depart for a scenic drive to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the breathtaking famous Thompsons Falls; picnic lunch en route.

From the Greater and Lesser flamingos that cover the lake edge, joined by pelicans, herons, storks, and other wading birds, to the impressive African fish eagle circling overhead, few places in the world can match the splendor of the pink-rimmed (seasonal) shoreline of Lake Nakuru. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park - Kakamega Forest

After breakfast, drive through the scenic Rift Valley and into Eldoret, one of Kenya’s agricultural towns. From here, you’ll continue on into Kakamega Forest, an ancient and beautiful remnant of what used to be a rainforest that stretched across Central Africa.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and your first introduction to this forest’s impressive birdlife. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 6: Kakamega Forest

Time seems to stand still in this magical corner of the world, one of the last dense tropical rainforests in Kenya. As you walk the lush green forest paths, you’ll witness incredible sightings of birds such as the spectacular Blue Turacos, Black and White casqued Hornbills, as well as the tiny, endangered Turner’s Eremomela and other unique birds only found in this type of tropical rainforest.

Spend the full day exploring the depths of this rich forest and its unique flora and fauna, before returning to your lodge for overnight.

Day 7: Kakamega Forest - Lake Victoria

Depart Kakamega Forest in the early morning for Lake Victoria, the mighty heart of the African continent, whose papyrus covered shores come alive with colorful Kingfishers, Bee-Eaters, Swallows and the majestic Fish Eagle. Enjoy an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 8: Lake Victoria - Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast, head to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. Home to more than 50 species of raptors, this wide open savannah promises two days of thrilling and dramatic bird and game viewing.

Day 9-12: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Spend the next few days disappearing into the wild grasslands of Africa, where Bateleurs can often be seen soaring above the plains and predator kills are an excellent spot to find vultures scavenging.

Drive along the banks of the park’s rivers, which are bursting with life thanks to a treasure trove of birds from vibrant sunbirds and lanky ostriches, to magnificent crowned cranes putting on spectacular courtship displays.

Day 13: Masai Mara Game Reserve - Lake Naivasha

Wake with the sunrise for an early morning game drive before departing for Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. Fringed by papyrus and with the extinct Mt. Longonot as a backdrop, this is a truly spectacular lake to watch and photograph some of Kenya’s most incredible birdlife. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 14: Lake Naivasha - Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park, located at the foothills of the magnificent Mt. Kilimanjaro. As you enter the park’s iconic plains, among the large-tusked elephants, catch sight of some of Amboseli’s rich birdlife enroute to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 15: Amboseli National Park

Today, you will wake up in yet another amazing destination for birding , with birds such as the globally threatened Madagascar Pond-Heron, the Lesser Kestrel.
Whether it’s journeying through the acacia woodlands, or wading through the park’s swamps, Amboseli promises bird lovers some different opportunities for more water birds, as well as some amazing game viewing. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 16: Amboseli National Park - Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park birding en route, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive in this vast expanse and different topography, where the birdlife is as varied as the landscape, and includes numerous species of hornbills, sunbirds, and raptors. Return to your lodge at dusk for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 17: Tsavo West National Park

Spend the day in the rugged, beautiful wilderness of Tsavo West National Park, surrounded by magnificent animals including large herds of elephant, as you go in search of some of the world’s most revered bird species including the threatened corncrake and near-threatened Basra Reed Warbler. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 18: Tsavo West National Park - Tsavo East National Park

Depart after breakfast and proceed to Tsavo East, where you’ll arrive at your lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon discovering the park’s undeniable wild and primordial charm as you go in search of its terrific and truly varied birdlife. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 19: Tsavo East National Park

The sight of dust-red elephants wallowing, rolling, and spraying each other with the water of the palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. Couple this with rare sightings of bird species, including the magnificent golden-breasted starling, vulturine guineafowl, and African skimmer, and you’re sure to have a wild adventure. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 20: Tsavo East National Park - Watamu

After breakfast, drive onwards to the Kenyan coastal town of Malindi, where you will continue your bird-watching adventure along the dazzling white sands of Watamu nearby and within its mysterious Mangrove forest. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 21-22: Watamu

Travel to Mida Creek in an Arab style dhow or traditional dugout canoe. This is a resting place for many species of aquatic birds sometimes including the migrants like Palaearctic Wader, Grey Plover, and the Sanderling. For the next two days, unwind on the pristine white beaches, soaking in the sun and stunning ocean views.

Day 23: Watamu - Nairobi

This morning after breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Malindi Airport and depart for a flight to Nairobi. From here, you can connect to your onward flight.
