Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka

Choosing the right time to visit this island can be tricky as it has a rather complicated climate and is affected by two monsoons. It’s best to follow this guideline:

● January - March: There will be warm/mild temperatures and sunny days with very little rainfall.
● April: This is the hottest month and it’s a great month to go to the beaches but makes sightseeing a little difficult.
● June - July: The Southwest Yala Monsoon is in full swing so the West, South and Hill Country see increased rainfall. However, in the North and East Coast, dry and bright weather can be expected.
● October - November: These are the two wettest months of the year with the Northeast Maha Monsoon hitting the North/East coasts. You can expect heavy showers.
● December: This is usually a good month to travel to the Island. Along the South/West coasts, rainfall begins to decline but it will still be high along the north/east coasts as the Maha Monsoon blows.
