Year of the Monkey

The Monkey is ninth of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. Each year is related to an animal sign according to a 12-year-cycle. 2016 is the year of the Monkey. The Chinese celebrate New Year with a 16 day period of festivities, beginning 31st January.

In Hong Kong, this is the biggest and most colourful festival of the year. A time where the locals give thanks for the past 12 months and pray for good fortune in the coming year.

Chinese New Year is a great opportunity to see Hong Kong steeped in tradition, mingle with the local people, indulge in tasty traditional foods and take stunning photos of the red lanterns that adorn the city.
